The main advantages of hydraulic lifts include their minimum requirements in regard to the size and the strength of the shaft, the speed of their installation, their lower cost price and their durability.
Hydraulic lifts are most suited to low-rise buildings (of up to five floors). Their capacity ranges between 250 kg and 10,000 kg and the transport speed is usually up to a maximum of 0.63 m/s.
The engine room, with the hydraulic unit and the switchboard, can be located next to the shaft on any floor.
In special situations the hydraulic unit and the switchboard may also be placed in the hollow of the lift shaft.
